Course OUtline
The course is a combination of direct instruction and on-line instruction. The core portion of the course is on this site. Obviously to fully function as a student library assistant you'll need some practical experience. This digital module will give you the core knowledge of the library skills. There are no print handouts. After completing this module Library 11 students should be able to effectively assist in the daily operations of the library, select appropriate print and online sources for specific research needs, use the library's electronic resources effectively, locate resources in the Delview Library such as books, journals, media and reference, as well as make use of the various services offered, and of course, to assist library patrons with information retrieval.
In Library 11 you will be helping to run the library and are expected to treat this course as if it were a work situation. The course is designed to give you practice and training in the skills and behaviours of a typical work place, not just a library work place. As well, you will become an expert library user.
