Follett Circulation Desk Basics
This is what the Follett circulation desk looks like when you first click on Circulation:
Checking out Items
1. Click on the Check Out tab on the toolbar of the Circulation Desk module as shown above.
2. Type in the last name of the patron in the blank space and click on Find Patron. If there is more than one person with the same last name, select the correct name and click on that name.
3. Check the patron's (borrower's) name on the screen. To verify the person is using the correct name, ask for the last three numbers of his/her student number.
4. Scan the book barcode. Check the screen. Is the title on the screen the same as the title on the book? (If not check-in the book immediately.)
5. Use the date stamp or hand-write the due date (found at the bottom of the screen when the title has been checked out) on the Date Due card and place it in the front pocket of the book. Tell the borrower when the book is due.
5. Sign out more books..... same way.
6. Desensitize (Deactivate) the book.
If the student has reached the maximum number of checkouts or has overdue books, the system does not allow for checking out. A window will appear stating block conditions. If this is the case the book(s) may not be signed out until overdue books are returned.
