Course Expectations
Attendance
Attendance is essential in this course. This is primarily a service oriented course.
Assignments
Prompt completion of assignments is mandatory.
Participation and Professionalism (IMPORTANT)
Participating is defined as taking part, as having a part or sharing in something. It is expected and required for you to be an active member of the class. Participation encompasses providing service to our library patrons, working on and completing in-class exercises and contributing to an overall learning atmosphere. Signs that indicate you are not a fully participating class member include checking email, surfing the web unrelated to assignments, sitting with your friends in the common areas and even napping during class exercises, discussions or presentations. Once you have gone through this site you need to be self-directed and self-sufficient. This site describes all your responsibilities and duties. This is vital as the teacher-librarians often have to work with classes booked in the library. Do not ask what is there to do. You need to create work for yourself. There is always something to do in the library. There are some tedious chores to be performed but there are also many interesting ones. This course requires a certain mind set and discipline. Do not look and be unprofessional. This reflects poorly on you and thus the library.
